The Omoribe Mission trip for 2020
The 2020 mission trip will be one that, as usual, was full of firsts. The team was briefed on how the "compost" toilet (Humanure) worked so that there would be no smell. Building another outhouse just was not an option. This system will allow the orphanage, if they continue to use it, to use the humanure as fertilizer once it has broken down. Once a bin is full it will take approximately one year to decompose into rich soil.
New uniforms for each child were sewn onsite by a tailor. He used a treadle sewing machine to make all of the uniforms, something we have not used in America for many years. All of the children were excited to have new clothes. Socks, toothbrushes & toothpaste were also given to each child.
We were able to repair the swing set so the children would be able to swing once again.
